Meningitis – Important Information About the MenB Outbreak in Kent
We understand that news of the recent meningococcal (MenB) outbreak in Kent may be worrying. We’re receiving a high number of enquiries, so to help us keep our phone lines available for patients who need urgent medical care, please only contact the practice if you have symptoms or have been specifically advised to do so by NHS 111.
Who Is Being Contacted?
Public health teams, including the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), are managing the situation directly.
Anyone who needs preventative antibiotics has already been contacted by UKHSA.
This incident only affects people who attended Club Chemistry in Kent on 5th, 6th, or 7th March 2026.
If you have not been contacted by UKHSA, you do not need antibiotics related to this outbreak.
MenB Vaccination
Please be aware that the MenB vaccine is not routinely offered on the NHS for adults, unless they are in specific eligibility groups.
For this reason, we are not able to provide MenB vaccinations at the practice for this situation.
